FAQ's - Frequently Asked Questions

Below are commonly asked questions we receive at our offices. If your question is not addressed below, please feel welcome to contact our office during business hours at 1-800-343-2357 or 724-863-9696.

Question: Once I call to schedule an appointment with one of your inspectors, how long will I have to wait for my appointment?

Answer: Typically, your appointment is scheduled five to seven days from the day you contact our office. We schedule appointments in the morning, afternoon, evening and on weekends. So we will offer you the times and days most convenient for your schedule. Once the appointment is set, our office will contact you the day prior to your appointment to confirm the time and day are still convenient for you, and then our inspector will arrive at your home on the scheduled day and time.


Question: If I should choose to use your company for my foundation repair project, how far out will my installation date be?

Answer: Typically, projects are scheduled two to four weeks from the date of the sale. If you have special circumstances (ie real estate closing) which requires the project to be completed more quickly, our scheduling department will work with you to schedule a more timely date for your project.


Question: I am having your company install an internal french drain in my basement. What do I need to do before your crew arrives the day of the project?

Answer: Before our crew arrives, if possible, please move all of your personal belongings away from the area in which our crew will be working. They will need at least five to six feet access along the walls to be treated. Any carpeting and padding in that area should be pulled away. In addition, you will need to cover your belongings to protect them from dust. Other than that, you should be fine.


Question: I have signed up with your company to use the same as cash option, when will I receive my first bill?

Answer: We use Captial One Financial for same as cash options. Within one month of your project completion, you will receive your payment information from Captial One. Your first payment is usually due 30 days from the project completion date.


Question: I am looking into buying a home with noticeable water damage. Will your company send an inspector to give me an estimate on repairing the damages that I can present to the seller?

Answer: Definitely. However, any real estate inspection requires a $50.00 fee, payable by check, credit card or cash up front. This amount is credited toward your project cost should you choose "A Better Choice" Inc. to complete your project.


Question: I know that I have a water problem in my basement, but I also know that I don't want an internal french drain in my basement, but everyone keeps telling me that's what I need. Isn't this what external french drains are for?

Answer: Unfortunately, external french drains work for a short period of time, two to five years if you're lucky. After a period of time, they become clogged by tree roots, silt, and ground debris and become ineffective.

External french drains also cost considerably more than an internal french drain and offer no warranty to the customer against future leakage. At "A Better Choice" Inc., we do not like to offer products or services that do not come with some type of warranty for the customer. Therefore, by installing an internal french drain, we are able to offer a warranty against future leakage in the treated area as described in our Warranty and within the Terms and Conditions on our Contract.


Question: I've had your company do work for me and I was very pleased with the outcome. I've referred several of my friends and neighbors to you. Do you have a referral program?

Answer: Yes. For every customer you refer to "A Better Choice" Inc. that selects us to complete their project, we send you a referral gift of $50 once their project is installed. Be sure to tell your friends and neighbors to mention your name when they contact our office so we can process your gift accordingly.
